MEPC 79/15/Add.1Annex 9,page 1ANNEX 9RESOLUTION MEPC.364(79)2022 GUIDELINES ON THE METHOD OF CALCULATION OF THE ATTAINED ENERGYEFFICIENCY DESIGN INDEX(EEDI)FOR NEW SHIPSTHE MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION COMMITTEERECALLING article 38(a)of the Convention on the International Maritime Organizationconcerning the functions of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (the Committee)conferred upon it by international conventions for the prevention and control of marine pollutionfrom ships,NOTING that regulation 22 (Attained Energy Efficiency Design Index (attained EEDI))ofMARPOL Annex VI,as amended,requires that the EEDI shall be calculated taking into accountthe guidelines developed by the Organization,NOTING ALSO that the Committee adopted,at its seventy-third session,2018 Guidelines onthe method of calculation of the attained Energy Efficiency Design Index(EEDI)for new ships(resolution MEP℃.308(73)，NOTING FURTHER that,at its seventy-fourth and seventy-sixth sessions,it adopted,byresolutions MEPC.322(74)and MEPC.332(76),respectively,amendments to the 2018Guidelines on the method of calculation of the attained Energy Efficiency Design Index(EEDI)for new ships.HAVING NOTED,at its seventy-ninth session,the need to further amend the 2018 Guidelineson the method of calculation of the attained Energy Efficiency Design Index(EEDI)for newships(resolution MEPC.308(73),as amended),ADOPTS the 2022 Guidelines on the method of calculation of the attained EnergyEfficiency Design Index(EED/)for new ships,as set out in the annex to the present resolution;2INVITES Administrations to implement the 2022 EEDI Calculation Guidelines whendeveloping and enacting national laws which give force to,and implement provisions set forthin regulation 22 of MARPOL Annex VI,as amended;3REQUESTS the Parties to MARPOL Annex VI and other Member Governments tobring the amendments to the attention of shipowners,ship operators,shipbuilders,shipdesigners and any other interested parties;4AGREES to keep these Guidelines,as amended,under review,in light of experiencegained with their implementation;5AGREES that these Guidelines supersede the 2018 Guidelines on the method ofcalculation of the attained Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI)for new ships (resolutionMEPC.308(73),as amended by resolutions MEPC.322(74)and MEPC.332(76)).I:MEPC79MEPC 79-15-Add.1.docx
