INTERNATIONALEMARITIMEORGANIZATION4 ALBERT EMBANKMENTLONDON SE1 7SRTelephone:+44(0)2077357611Fax:+44(0)2075873210MSC.1/Circ.1630/Rev.328 January 2025REVISED STANDARDIZED LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCE EVALUATIONAND TEST REPORT FORMS (SURVIVAL CRAFT)The Maritime Safety Committee,at its 102nd session(4 to 11 November 2020),approved the Revised standardized life-saving appliance evaluation and test report foms.2The original foms,as set forth in the Standardized life-saving appliance evaluationand test report foms(MSC/Circ.980)and its addenda,were developed on the basis of therequirements of the Intemational Life-Saving Appliance (LSA)Code and the Revisedrecommendation on testing of life-saving appliances (resolution MSC.81(70))by theCommittee,at its 73rd session(27 November to 6 December 2000),with a view to providingguidance on how to conduct tests,record test data and verify tests.The Committee adoptedseveral amendments to the LSA Code and to resolution MSC.81(70).These amendmentswere incorporated in the original forms which,due to their volume,were presented in sixseparate circulars,i.e.MSC.1/Circ.1628,MSC.1/Circ.1629,MSC.1/Circ.1630,MSC.1/Circ.1631,MSC.1/Circ.1632 and MSC.1/Circ.1633,pertaining to the equipmentaddressed in chapters ll to Vll of the LSA Code,respectively.3In order to address the need to update the references to the standards that havebeen withdrawn in "Technical tests on the membrane","Porosity"and "Oil resistance"in theRevised standardized life-saving appliance evaluation and test report forms (survival craft)(MSC.1/Circ.1630),the Committee,at its 106th session(2 to 11 November 2022),approvedamendments to the above-mentioned evaluation and test report forms,for dissemination asMSC.1/Circ.1630/Rev.1.4The forms annexed to this circular apply to the equipment addressed in chapter IV ofthe LSA Code,i.e.survival craft(inflatable liferafts;rigid liferafts;components for survival craft;davit-launched lifeboats;and free-fall lifeboats).5The Committee,at its 107th session (31 May to 9 June 2023),approvedamendments to the evaluation and test report forms emanating from amendments to the LSACode and resolution MSC.81(70)concerning ventilation requirements for totally enclosedlifeboats adopted at the session,for dissemination as MSC.1/Circ.1630/Rev.2.6The Committee,at its 109th session(2 to 6 December 2024),approved amendmentsto the evaluation and test report forms concerning assumed weight used to represent eachperson in self-righting tests for totally enclosed lifeboats,as well as retro-reflective materialsused on survival craft.The text of the Revised standardized life-saving appliance evaluationand test report forms (survival craft)is set out in the annex.MSC1MSC.1-Circ.1630-Rev.3.docx
