CCSTechnical Information(2020)Technical Information No.24 Total No.458Feb.28,2020(Total 2 pages)To:Ship owners,Shipyards,Products Manufacturers and Designers,Relevant departments of CCSHeadquarters,CCS site surveyors,and CCS plan approval centersTechnical Notice on UNIFIED INTERPRETATIONS OF THE IGC CODE,ASAMENDED BY RESOLUTION MSC.370(93)(MSC.1-Circ.1606)Issued by IMOI Foreword1.1 The Maritime Safety Committee of International Maritime Organization,at its101th session(5 to 14 June 2019),approved "UNIFIED INTERPRETATIONS OF THE IGCCODE(AS AMENDED BY RESOLUTION MSC.370(93))"(MSC.1/Circ.1606).1.2 The circular applies to ships following the IGC rules from the date of issue(2 July,2019).Il.Technical points2.1 Main contents of MSC.1/Circ.1606(1)The heating system referred to in paragraph 4.19.1.6.1 should be such that,incase of a single failure of a mechanical or electrical component in any part of thesystem,heating can be maintained at not less than 100%of the theoretical heatrequirement.Where the above requirements are met by duplication of the systemcomponents,all electrical components of at least one of the systems should besupplied from the emergency source of electrical power.Where duplication of theprimary source of heat,alternative proposals can be accepted such as an electric
