SensorexPRODUCT INSTRUCTION SHEETFlat Surface CPVC and PVDF pH and ORP SensorsProduct InstructionsIntroductionThis Combination pH/Reference electrode or ORP (REDOX)/Reference Electrode is ruggedly made and easy to use.FIG.1aFIG.1bBecause the pH responsive glass flat surface is relatively thin,care should be taken so that the glass does not becomescratched or broken.It is also important that ORP measuringsurfaces are not scratched or gouged.The suggestions in thissheet are intended to help avoid these problems.The built-insealed reference design of this electrode eliminates the needto add filling solutions and minimizes reference dryout.Thisdesign feature also allows the electrode to be used in pressur-ized systems(Refer to specification sheets or consult the fac-tory for maximum pressure/temperature limit information).Section 1.0Important Considerations1.The pH and ORP electrodes are shipped in a soaker bottlecontaining a solution of pH 4 buffer and potassium chloride.Theelectrode should remain in the bottle until it is ready to use.If theelectrode is used infrequently the cap,bottle and solution shouldbe saved and the electrode stored in it.Store pH electrodes inpH4 buffer if soaking solution is discarded.Remove cap of bottleand o-ring before to use (SEE FIGS 1a 1b).2.Electrodes are a form of battery and have limited shelf lives.Electrodes in inventory should be rotated so that the older elec-trodes are used first.The date code is stamped on each electrodeby fiscal week and year(example:5204=week 4 of December2004).SeeF1G2.FIG.2FIG.33.After exposure to a sample,buffer or rinse solution,carryover canbe minimized by blotting-never by wiping-the electrode witha clean,non-abrasive paper or a clean cloth towel.Do not use abrush on pH glass(SEE FIG 3).52044.As a rinse solution,use a part of the next sample or buffer,whichis to be measured.This action also will minimize contaminationfrom carryover.PHGLASS5.When calibrating,use a buffer close in value to that expected fromthe sample for one-point calibrations or as the first buffer for two-point calibrations(See below).This action will minimize spanerrors.6.Readings stabilize faster in some solutions than others;allow timefor the reading to stabilize.In general,with new electrodes stablereadings in buffer are obtained in 10-15 seconds(SEE FIG 4).Parts covered by this product data sheet include:DA650CD DA651CD.DA650CD-ORP.DA660CD.DA660CD-ORP.DA661CD.DA662CD.S645CD S64SCD-ORPS650CD,S650CD-ORP,S651D,S651CD-ORP S65SCD,S655CD-ORP,S656CD,S656CD-ORP S660CD,S660CD-ORP,S661CD,S661CD-ORP,S662CD,S662CD-ORPPage 1 of 4Form:InstrFlatSurface [Rev:2012-03-28]2011 Sensorex Corportion
