American Water WorksAssociationAWWA C213a-02Addendum toANSI/AWWA C213-01StandardForFUSION-BONDED EPOXY COATING FOR THE INTERIORAND EXTERIOR OF STEEL WATER PIPELINES(Approved by the AWWA Board of Directors on June 16,2002.)P.14 and 15,Sec.5.3.2.5 Impact,revise to read:5.3.2.5 Impact.Prepare two cold-rolled steel panels 3 in.x 3 in.x 0.125 in.(76 mm x76 mm x 3.2 mm)by blast cleaning one side according to Sec.4.4.2.2.Remove surface dustby vacuum or a dry,oil-free blast of air.Preheat the panels according to the manufacturer'sinstructions.As soon as the panels have reached the required temperature,coat the blastedsurface to a thickness of0.014in.±0.002in.(356μm±50μm)using air or electrostaticspray and post-cure as required.The coating application and curing shall be in accordancewith the manufacturer's recommendations.After allowing the panels to cool to 73F(23C),test impact by placing panels,coating side up,over a hole of 0.64-in.(16.3-mm)diameter in a die mounted in the anvil.Raise the 4-lb.(1.8-kg)weight to a height that willyield 100 lbf-in.(11.3 N m)of impact.Allow the weight to fall,striking the 0.625-in.(15.9mm)diameter round nosed punch resting on the panel.The impacted coating shall not crackor disbond at the point of impact.Inspection for failure shall be performed using a wet-sponge,67.5-V holiday detector in accordance with NACE RP0188.
