MSC105/20/Add.1Annex 14,page 1ANNEX 14RESOLUTION MSC.507(105)(adopted on 28 April 2022)SYSTEM PERFORMANCE STANDARD FOR THE PROMULGATION ANDCOORDINATION OF MARITIME SAFETY INFORMATION USING HIGH-FREQUENCYNARROW-BAND DIRECT-PRINTINGTHE MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEE.RECALLING Article 28(b)of the Convention on the Intemational Maritime Organizationconcerning the functions of the Committee,RECALLING ALSO resolution A.699(17),by which the Assembly,at its seventeenth session,adopted the System perfomance standard for the promulgation and coordination of maritimesafety information using high-frequency narrow-band direct-printing,RECALLING FURTHER resolution A.886(21),by which the Assembly resolved that thefunctions of adopting perfommance standards for radio and navigational equipment,as well asamendments thereto,should be perfommed by the Maritime Safety Committee on behalf of theOrganization,TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the amendments to the International Convention for the Safety ofLife at Sea,1974 ("the Convention"),adopted by resolution MSC.496(105),NOTING,in particular,regulation V/5 of the Convention,which establishes the requirement forpromulgating information on direct dangers to navigation,as well as regulation IV/7.1.4,whichstates that "every ship shall be provided with receiver(s)capable of receiving maritime safetyinfomation and search and rescue related information throughout the entire voyage in whichthe ship is engaged",BEARING IN MIND resolution MSC.508(105),which establishes standards on the receptionof maritime safety information using a variety of radio teleprinting techniques,includinghigh-frequency (HF)narrow-band direct-printing (NBDP),NOTING that provision No.33.48 of the ITU Radio Regulations identifies frequencies in theHF bands for the transmission of maritime safety infomation using NBDP and that the globalcoordinated plan for the use of these channels is published in the Master plan of shore-basedfacilities for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)through the GlobalIntegrated Shipping Infommation System(GISIS),RECOGNIZING the need to revise the System performance standard for the promulgation andcoordination of maritime safety information using high-frequency namrow-band direct-printing,HAVING CONSIDERED,at its 105th session,the recommendation made by theSub-Committee on Navigation,Communications and Search and Rescue at its eighth session,1ADOPTS the revised System perfomance standard for the promulgation andcoordination of maritime safety information using high-frequency narrow-band direct-printing,set out in the annex to the present resolution,which should become effective on1 January 2024,in conjunction with the entry into force of amendments to the Conventionadopted by resolution MSC.496(105);I:MSC105MSC 105-20-Add.1.docx
