MSC105/20/Add.1Annex 15,page 1ANNEX 15RESOLUTION MSC.508(105)(adopted on 28 April 2022)PERFORMANCE STANDARDS FOR THE RECEPTION OF MARITIME SAFETYINFORMATION AND SEARCH AND RESCUE RELATED INFORMATIONBY MF (NAVTEX)AND HFTHE MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEE.RECALLING Article 28(b)of the Convention on the Intemational Maritime Organizationconcerning the functions of the Committee,RECALLING ALSO resolution A525(13),by which the Assembly,at its thirteenth session,adopted the Performance standards for narrow-band direct-printing telegraph equipment forthe reception of navigational and meteorological warnings and urgent infomation to ships,andresolution A.700(17),by which the Assembly,at its seventeenth session,adopted thePerformance standards for narrow-band direct-printing telegraph equipment for the receptionof navigational and meteorological warnings and urgent infomation to ships(MSI)by HFRECALLING FURTHER resolution MSC.148(77),by which it adopted,at its seventy-seventhsession,the revised Recommendation on Performance standards for narrow-banddirect-printing telegraph equipment for the reception of navigational and meteorologicalwamings and urgent infomation to ships(NAVTEX),as amended by resolution MSC.430(98),RECALLING resolution A.886(21),by which the Assembly resolved that the functions ofadopting performance standards for radio and navigational equipment,as well as amendmentsthereto,shall be perfomed by the Maritime Safety Committee on behalf of the Organization,TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the amendments to the International Convention for the Safety ofLife at Sea,1974 ("the Convention"),adopted by resolution MSC.496(105),NOTING,in particular,the carriage requirement in regulation M/7.1.4 of the Convention forreceiver(s)capable of receiving maritime safety infomation and search and rescue relatedinfomation throughout the entire voyage in which the ship is engaged,NOTING ALSO the success of the International NAVTEX and HF-MSI service in thepromulgation of maritime safety infomation,NOTING FURTHER the enhanced storage,processing and display possibilities offered byrecent technical advances,RECOGNIZING that further growth in information promulgated to ships will be constrained bythe capacity of the International NAVTEX service and the increasing importance of NationalNAVTEX services,and that HF NBDP broadcasts may be used in the Global Maritime Distressand Safety System(GMDSS),RECOGNIZING ALSO the need to revise the performance standards adopted by resolutionsMSC.148(77),as amended,and A.700(17),HAVING CONSIDERED,at its 105th session,the recommendation made by theSub-Committee on Navigation,Communications and Search and Rescue at its eighth session,I:MSC105MSC 105-20-Add.1.docx
