MSC106/19/Add.1Annex 5,page 1ANNEX 5RESOLUTION MSC.523(106)(adopted on 10 November 2022)AMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL CODE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION ANDEQUIPMENT OF SHIPS CARRYING LIQUEFIED GASES IN BULK(IGC CODE)THE MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEERECALLING Article 28(b)of the Convention on the International Maritime Organizationconcerning the functions of the Committee,NOTING resolution MSC.5(48),by which it adopted the International Code for the Constructionand Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk("the IGC Code"),which has becomemandatory under chapter VIl of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea,1974("the Convention"),NOTING ALSO article VIll(b)and regulation Vll/11.1 of the Convention concerning theprocedure for amending the IGC Code,HAVING CONSIDERED,at its 106th session,amendments to the IGC Code proposed andcirculated in accordance with article VIll(b)(i)of the Convention,1ADOPTS,in accordance with article VIll(b)(iv)of the Convention,amendments to theIGC Code the text of which is set out in the annex to the present resolution;2DETERMINES,in accordance with article VIll(b)(vi)(2)(bb)of the Convention,thatthe said amendments shall be deemed to have been accepted on 1 July 2025,unless,prior tothat date,more than one third of the Contracting Governments to the Convention orContracting Governments the combined merchant fleets of which constitute not less than 50%of the gross tonnage of the world's merchant fleet have notified their objections to theamendments;INVITES Contracting Govemments to the Convention to note that,in accordance witharticle VIll(b)(vii)(2)of the Convention,the amendments shall enter into forceon 1 January 2026 upon their acceptance in accordance with paragraph 2 above;REQUESTS the Secretary-General,for the purposes of article VIll(b)(v)of theConvention,to transmit certified copies of the present resolution and the text of theamendments contained in the annex to all Contracting Governments to the Convention;ALSO REQUESTS the Secretary-General to transmit copies of this resolution and itsannex to Members of the Organization which are not Contracting Governments to theConvention.I:MSC106MSC 106/19/Add.1.docx
