MSC106/19/Add.1Annex 9,page 1ANNEX 9RESOLUTION MSC.527(106)(adopted on 10 November 2022)INTERNATIONAL CODE OF SAFETY FOR SHIPSCARRYING INDUSTRIAL PERSONNEL(IP CODE)THE MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEERECALLING Article 28(b)of the Convention on the International Maritime Organizationconcerning the function of the Committee,RECOGNIZING the need for a mandatory code for the safe carriage of industrial personnel onships and for ensuring their safety during personnel transfer operations to and from other shipsand/or offshore facilities,NOTING resolution MSC.521(106),by which it adopted chapter XV of the InternationalConvention for the Safety of Life at Sea,1974("the Convention")to make the provisions of theInternational Code of Safety for Ships Carrying Industrial Personnel (IP Code)mandatoryunder the Convention,HAVING CONSIDERED,at its 106th session,the IP Code,人ADOPTS the IP Code,the text of which is set out in the annex to the presentresolution;INVITES Contracting Governments to the Convention to note that the IP Code willtake effect on 1 July 2024 upon entry into force of chapter XV of the Convention;3ALSO INVITES Contracting Governments to consider the voluntary application of theIP Code,as far as practicable,to ships of less than 500 gross tonnage and to ships notoperating on international voyages;4REQUESTS the Secretary-General of the Organization to transmit certified copies ofthe present resolution and the text of the IP Code,contained in the annex,to all ContractingGovernments to the Convention;5ALSO REQUESTS the Secretary-General of the Organization to transmit copies ofthe present resolution and the text of the IP Code contained in the annex to all Members of theOrganization which are not Contracting Governments to the Convention.I:MSC106MSC 106/19/Add.1.docx
