IE-NDTIndustrial Radiography DurchstrahlungsprufungReV.3-2004Image Quality IndicatorsWire Type Image Quality Indicators toEN 462-1The European standard,which was introduced in1994,replaces well-known national standards suchas DIN 54 109 and BS 3971.The wire diametersand system of numbering follow the previous DINpractice.IE-NDT Ltd manufactures EN 462-1 IQls insteel,aluminium,copper and models W6,W10 and的W13 in titanium.Description.Wire type IQls to EN 462-1:1994manufactured by IE-NDT Ltd.comprise sevenparallel wires 10,25 or 50mm long,which areencapsulated in thin,transparent plastic along witha radio-opaque identification plaque.Each IQI issupplied in a wallet.For ease of recognition,thewallet carries stickers showing the IQI model andwire length it contains.These are colour coded:BlueYellowRedWhiteSteelAluminiumCopperTitaniumEncapsulation.The wires in models W1,W6 andW10 as well as W13 in FE and CU areencapsulated in thin PVC.Because of the lowradiation energy nomally appropriate when modelsW13AL and W13TI are used,these wires areencapsulated in thin,less radiation absorbentpolythene(complies with Standard requirement 4.2IOFEENIdentification.Most models are encapsulated withcast,white metal identification plaques.To avoiddistracting glare when viewing radiographscontaining a W13AL or W13TI model,theseidentification plaques are made of thin copper on aGRP substrate (complies with Standard requirement4.3)Quality Assurance.Manufacturing,includinginspection,follows a written procedure,which fommspart of a Quality Management System registeredaccording to ISO 9002.Each IQI carries a uniquebatch number.The Declaration of Conformityprovides a complete manufacturing history as wellas a printout showing the measured diameter ofeach wire.IE-NDT LTD,UNIT C,HEATH FARM,CHIPPING NORTON,OXFORD OX7 4BN,ENGLANDTEL:+44(0)1608 683985 Fax:+44(0)1608 683476 Email:enquiries@ie-ndtco.uk
