MEPC 79/15/Add.1Annex 10,page 1ANNEX 10RESOLUTION MEPC.365(79)2022 GUIDELINES ON SURVEY AND CERTIFICATIONOF THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY DESIGN INDEX(EEDI)THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION COMMITTEE.RECALLING Article 38(a)of the Convention on the International Maritime Organizationconcerning the functions of the Marine Environment Protection Committee conferred upon itby international conventions for the prevention and control of marine pollution from ships,NOTING that regulation 5(Surveys)of MARPOL Annex VI,as amended,requires ships towhich chapter 4 applies shall also be subject to survey and certification taking into accountguidelines developed by the Organization,NOTING ALSO that the Committee adopted,at its sixty-seventh session,the 2014 Guidelineson survey and certification of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI)(resolutionMEPC.25467),NOTING FURTHER that,at its sixty-eighth and seventy-third sessions,it adopted,byresolutions MEPC.261(68)and MEPC.309(73),respectively,amendments to the 2014Guidelines on survey and certification of the Energy Efficiency Design Index(EEDl),HAVING NOTED,at its seventy-ninth session,the need to further amend the 2014 Guidelineson survey and certification of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI)(resolutionMEPC.254(67),as amended),1ADOPTS the 2022 Guidelines on survey and certification of the Energy EfficiencyDesign Index (EED/),as set out in the annex to the present resolution;2INVITES Administrations to implement the 2022 EEDI Survey and CertificationGuidelines when developing and enacting national laws which give force to and implementprovisions set forth in regulation 5 of MARPOL Annex VI,as amended;REQUESTS the Parties to MARPOL Annex VI and other Member Governments tobring the amendments to the attention of shipowners,ship operators,shipbuilders,shipdesigners and any other interested groups;4AGREES to keep these Guidelines,as amended,under review,in light of theexperience gained with their application;AGREES that these Guidelines supersede the 2014 Guidelines on survey andcertification of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI)(resolution MEPC.254(67),asamended by resolutions MEPC.261(68)and MEPC.309(73)).I:MEPC79MEPC 79-15-Add.1.docx
