INTERNATIONALEMARITIMEORGANIZATION4 ALBERT EMBANKMENTLONDON SE1 7SRTelephone:+44(0)2077357611FaX:+44(0)2075873210MSC.1/Circ.1307/Rev.128 November 2022GUIDANCE ON THE SURVEY AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE OF SHIPSWITH THE REQUIREMENT TO TRANSMIT LRIT INFORMATION1 The Maritime Safety Committee (the Committee),at its 106th session(2 to 11 November 2022),approved amendments to the Guidance on the survey andcertification of compliance of ships with the requirement to transmit LRIT information(MSC.1/Circ.1307)(the Guidance)prepared by the Sub-Committee on Navigation,Communications and Search and Rescue,at its ninth session (NCSR 9/24/Add.1,annex 5).This circular incorporates the aforesaid amendments as well as additional editorialamendments and minor comections.The Guidance outlines a number of alternative options for documenting complianceof the shipborne equipment with the requirements of SOLAS regulations V/19-1.6 and V/19-1.7and the related provisions of the revised Performance standards and functional requirementsfor the long-range identification and tracking of ships(revised Performance standards)adoptedby resolution MSC.263(84),as amended,and sets out the approach to be taken whensurveying and certifying the compliance of ships which are required to transmitLRIT information with the aforesaid obligation.The Guidance should be read together withSOLAS regulation V/19-1 and the revised Performance standards.3SOLAS Contracting Govemments are invited to bring the present circular and itsannex to the attention of recognized org anizations which they have authorized to act on theirbehalf and to provide to such recognized organizations any necessary further guidance andinstruction so as to ensure that the objectives of this circular are achieved.4SOLAS Contracting Governments are also invited to bring the present circular andthe salient parts of its annex to the attention of companies operating ships entitled to fly theirflag which are required to transmit LRIT infommation and to provide to such companies anynecessary further guidance and instruction so as to ensure that the objectives of this circularare achieved.5SOLAS Contracting Governments should communicate to the Organization as soonas possible the names and contact details of the Application Service Providers they have eitherrecognized within the framework of the revised Perfomance standards or they have authorizedto conduct conformance testing as set out in the attached Guidance,together with anyconditions attached to such recognitions or authorzations and update the information as andwhen changes occur.I:CIRCMSC1MSC.1-Circ.1307-Rev.1.docxGREENERSHIPPING
