Form:RWPRR401-B、通函CircularChina Classification Society(2014)Circ.49/Total No.533December 16,2014 (total pages:2+8)To:relevant Departments of CCS Headquarters,Rules and Technology Center,CCSsurveyors,related Shipowners and Ship Management CompaniesNotice on Implementation of Resolution MSC.371(93)on amendments to theInternational Code on the Enhanced Programme of Nspections During Surveys ofBulk Carriers and Oil Tankers1.Introduction1.1 The Maritime Safety Committee of IMO,at its ninety-third session,adoptedAmendments to International Code on the Enhanced Programme of Inspections DuringSurveys of Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (hereinafter referred to as "the ESP Code")byresolution MSC.371(93)on 22nd May 2014,which are expected to enter into force on 1stJanuary 2016.1.2 This Circular provides the explanations on the revised contents of ESP Code inresolution MSC.371(93).1.3 The original text of resolution MSC.371(93)is given in Attachment to this Circular.2.Main revised contents2.1 The definition of "transverse section"has been revised,as for transversely framed ships,atransverse section includes adjacent frames and their end connections in way of transverse sections.2.2 The explanation of"renewal thickness(tren)"has been added,i.e.the renewal thickness(tren)is the minimum allowable thickness,in mm,below which renewal of structuralmembers is to be carried out.2.3 The definition of "pitting corrosion"has been added,i.e.pitting corrosion is defined asscattered corrosion spots/areas with local material reductions which are greater than thegeneral corrosion in the surrounding area.
