CCSTechnical Information(2019)Technical Information No.18 Total No.412May.27,2019(Total 2 pages+Annex)To:Relevant departments of the Headquarters of CCS,the Society's surveyors,PlanApproval Centers,related shipowners,ship management companies,shipyards anddesignersNotice on Resolution MSC.453(100)--Amendments to the code ofsafety for Special Purpose Ships(SPS CODE)(Resolution A.534(13))issued by IMO1.BackgroundThe Maritime Safety Committee of International Maritime Organization(IMO),at its100th session,adopts the amendments to the code of safety for Special Purpose Ships(SPS CODE)(Resolution A.534(13)),i.e.Resolution MSC.453(100).This resolutionincorporates the amendments previously adopted by circular MSC/Circ.739(whichincludes the amendments adopted by MSC/Circ.446 and MSC/Circ.478)andresolution MSC.183(79),and the amendments to the Record of Equipment.The said amendments to the Record of Equipment should become effective on 1January 2020,in conjunction with the entry into force of amendments to SOLASchapter IV and the appendix(Certificates)adopted by resolution MSC.436(99).However,Code of Safety for Special Purpose Ships(SPS CODE)and amendmentsshall be implemented in accordance with the requirements of Administration.2.Main content2.1 In Chapter 8,an alternative measure is added to the life-saving equipment for asail training ships,whether mechanically self-propelled or not and irrespective of theirgross tonnage,carrying more than 50 special personnel (trainees).
