CCSTechnical Information(2019)Technical Information No.17 Total No.411May.21,2019(Total 2 pages)To:relevant departments of CCS Headquarters,CCS plan approval centers,Branches/Offices,related shipyards,product manufacturers,ship designers,ship management companies andshipownersTechnical Notice on Implementation of 2018 Guidelines on theMethod of Calculation of the Attained Energy Efficiency DesignIndex (EEDI)for New Ships(MEPC.308(73))The Marine Environment Protection Committee of IMO adopted,at itsseventy-third session(MEPC73),2018 Guidelines on the Method of Calculation of theAttained Energy Efficiency Design Index(EEDI)for New Ships (MEPC.308(73)).TheGuidelines apply to calculation of the Attained EEDI set forth in regulation 20 ofMARPOL Annex VI.The guidelines supersedes the 2014 Guidelines on the method of calculation ofthe attained Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI)for new ships adopted byresolution MEPC.245(66),as amended by resolutions MEPC.263(66)andMEPC.281(70).The main amendments to the guidelines are as follows:(1)incorporated the amendments in resolutions MEPC.263(68)and MEPC.281(70)with 2014 Guidelines on the method of calculation of the attained EnergyEfficiency Design Index (EEDI)for new ships (resolution MEPC.245(66));(2)revised the calculation method of power correction factor and capacitycorrection factor for ice-classed ships.This Notice is made public on CCS website (www.ccs.org.cn),and is to bedistributed to relevant shipowners,ship management companies,shipyards and
