CCSTechnical Information(2018)Technical Information No.12 Total No.338Mar.14,2018(Total 4 pages)To:relevant departments of CCS Headquarters,CCS surveyors,plan approval centers,relevant ship owners,shipyards,designers and shipping management companiesTechnical Notice on MSC.1/Circ.1571 Issued by IMO1、BackgroundThe Maritime Safety Committee of International Maritime Organization (IMO)approved MSC.1-Circ.1571--unified interpretations of SOLAS chapter ll-1,with a viewto providing more specific guidance on special requirements for vehicle ferries,ro-roships and other ships of similar type,and on the drainage of enclosed spaces situatedon the bulkhead deck.Member States are invited to use the annexed unifiedinterpretations as guidance when applying SOLAS regulations ll-1/17-1,ll-1/20-2 andll-1/35-1,and to bring the unified interpretations to the attention of all partiesconcerned.2.Main revisionsIn this Circular,the access doors or hatchways of ro-ro deck and closure of stern,bowand side doors are explained.And the drainage of enclosed spaces situated on thebulkhead deck to suitable spaces below the bulkhead deck is also permitted providedsuch drainage is arranged in accordance with the provisions of regulation 22(2)of theProtocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention on Load Lines,1966.This Notice is made public on CCS website (www.ccs.org.cn),and is to be distributedto relevant ship owner and shipping management companies,etc.by CCS brancheswithin their responsible areas.Please contact Technical Management Department of
