ISEC Course SyllabusCourse Title:Linear AlgebraMajor of The Students:Electronic Information Science and TechnologyCourse Credit:3Total Contact Hours:48Contact information of the instructor:xiejingzheng@163.comPre-Requisite:Elementary mathematics.Course Description:Linear algebra is one of the most important and fundamental subjects in mathematics.Its theories andmethods have been widely used in modern engineering science,social science research and application,andbecome a required course for science and engineering students in colleges and universities.This course provides an introduction to the ideas and methods of linear algebra,which students willlearn by understanding them geometrically,justifying them algebraically,and using them to solve problemsin various disciplines.Furthermore,Students can be proficient in analysing and using matrix operation andmatrix method to solve practical cases.On the other hand,this course can also better cultivate and improvelogical reasoning ability,abstract thinking ability and spatial imagination ability of the students duringlearning and applying processes of Linear Algebra.At last,it is a prerequisite for all advanced courses inmathematics and provides excellent preparation for graduate work in the natural sciences and quantitativesocial sciences.Course Learning Outcomes:LO1 Explore the core definitions,theorems and properties associated with determinants ,systems oflinear equations,manipulation of matrices,linear transformations,orthogonality,andeigenvalues,eigenvectors.LO2:Apply linear algebra to deal with some theoretical problems and to solve some practical problems.LO3:Cultivate and improve students'ability of logical thinking and abstract thinking.LO4:Develop the ability of analyzing and solving problems for the further study of professional coursesand applications.Note:Each LOs should be defined to focus on skills,abilities that can be applied in the practice for theprofessional development and working context.The LOs should NOT be the contents of teaching and learningMapping of Assessment Event and LOs(Tick the LOs that can be evaluated by the particular assessment events)
