CCSTechnical Information(2021)Technical Information No.47 Total No.553Aug.27,2021(Total 2 pages+Annex)To:Relevant shipowners,ship management companies,shipyards and designers,productmanufacturer,related departments of the Headquarters of CCS,the Society's surveyors,Plan Approval CentersNotice on Interim Guidelines on the Second Generation IntactStability Criteria of MSC.1/Circ.1627 Issued by IMO1.BackgroundThe Maritime Safety Committee of International Maritime Organization (IMO),at its102th session (11 November 2020),approved the MSC.1/Circ.1627 "InterimGuidelines on the Second Generation Intact Stability Criteria".2.Main contentThe interim guidelines provides technical criteria requirements for the five dynamicstability failure modes in waves of parametric roll,pure loss of stability,excessiveacceleration,surf-riding/broaching and dead ship,such as Level 1 and Level 2vulnerability criteria,direct stability failure assessment and operational measures,etc.As a supplement to the mandatory requirements of Part A of the "International Codeon Intact Stability,2008",this guidelines provides a performance-based criteria forsolving the problem of dynamic stability safety of ships in waves.IMO encourages allparties to apply the guidelines to new ship design and also to operating ships,comparethe experience gained through the trial use with practical experience,and feedbackthese experience to IMO.3.Class notation of CCS
