CCSTechnical Information(2017)Technical Information No.77 Total No.325Dec.29,2017(Total 2 pages+Annex)To:Relevant departments of the Headquarters of CCS,the Society's surveyors,PlanApproval Centers,related shipowners,ship management companies,shipyards anddesignersNotice on issuance of MSC.1/Circ.1567 "NotificationofAmendments to SOLAS Regulation Il-1/12.5.1"by IMO1 BackgroundThe Maritime Safety Committee,at its ninety-eighth session(7 to 16 June 2017),adopted amendments to SOLAS regulations ll-1/12.5.1,by resolution MSC.421(98).Inview of the above amendment which is expected to enter into force on 1 January2020,the Maritime Safety Committee approved MSC.1/Circ.1567 "NOTIFICATION OFAMENDMENTS TO SOLAS REGULATION II-1/12.5.1".Member States are invited to takeaction,as appropriate,pending its formal entry into force.Member States are invitedto bring the above information to the attention of all parties concerned.2 Main point2.1 Amendments to SOLAS regulation ll-1/12.5.1Replace the existing paragraph 5.1 of SOLAS regulation ll-1/12 with the following newrenumbered paragraph 6.1:"6.1 Except as provided in paragraph 6.2,the collision bulkhead may be piercedbelow the bulkhead deck of passenger ships and the freeboard deck of cargo ships bynot more than one pipe for dealing with fluid in the forepeak tank,provided that thepipe is fitted with a screw-down valve capable of being operated from above thebulkhead deck of passenger ships and the freeboard deck of cargo ships,the valvebeing located inside the forepeak at the collision bulkhead.The Administration may,
