Form:RWPRR401-BCCS通函CircularChina Classification Society(2013 Cire.22/Total No.308/Rev.126/032014(total pages::7+9)To:relevant departments of CCS Headquarters,Products plan approval center,CCSbranches and offices,relevant ship owners,shipping companies,shipyards,testorganizations,designers and equipment manufacturersNotice on implementation of revised performance standardsfor shipborne voyage data recorders (VDRs)(resolution MSC.333(90))1.IntroductionThe Maritime Safety Committee(MSC)of the International Maritime Organization(IMO),at itsninetieth session(On 22 May 2012 )adopted revised performance standards for shipborne voyage datarecorders(VDRs)by resolution MSC.333(90)("this resolution"called thereinafter),which shouldapply to the VDRs installed on or after I July 2014.It is the second revision following the first revision,by resolution MSC.214(81),to performance standards for shipborne voyage data recorders(VDRs)(i.e.resolution A.861(20)).The phrase "installed shall be interpreted as IACS UI SC261,unless therelevant Administration has provided special instructions that indicate otherwise.2.Main revised contentsCompared with performance standards specified in the resolution A.861(20)and MSC.214(81),thisresolution mainly revised these as follows:(1)Clause 4"DEFINITIONS*1 The definition"Sensor"is revised by"Signal source".Namely,signal source means any sensor ordevice external to the VDR,to which the VDR is connected and from which VDR obtains signals anddata to be recorded.(See 4.2 of this resolution)2 The definition"Final recording medium"is revised.A sentence is added in the end of thisdefinition:The combination of a fixed recording medium and float-free recording medium andlong-term recording medium,together,is recognized as the final recording medium.(See 4.3)
