MSC105/20/Add.1Annex 22,page 1ANNEX 22RESOLUTION MSC.515(105)(adopted on 28 April 2022)PERFORMANCE STANDARDS FOR SURVIVAL CRAFT PORTABLE TWO-WAY VHFRADIOTELEPHONE APPARATUSTHE MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEERECALLING Article 28(b)of the Convention on the International Maritime Organizationconcerning the functions of the Committee.RECALLING ALSO resolution A.762(18),by which the Assembly,at its eighteenth session,adopted the Performance standards for survival craft two-way VHF radiotelephone apparatus,and resolution 809(19),by which the Assembly,at its nineteenth session,adopted theRecommendation on Performance standards for survival craft two-way VHF radiotelephoneapparatus,consisting of the Recommendation on Performance standards for survival craftportable two-way VHF radiotelephone apparatus,which was subsequently revised byresolution MSC.149(77),and the Recommendation on Performance standards for two-wayVHF radiotelephone apparatus for fixed installation in survival craft,RECALLING FURTHER resolution A.886(21),by which the Assembly resolved that thefunctions of adopting perfomance standards for radio and navigational equipment,as well asamendments thereto,shall be perfomed by the Maritime Safety Committee on beh alf of theOrganization,TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the amendments to the International Convention for the Safety ofLife at Sea,1974 ("the Convention")adopted by resolution MSC.496(105),NOTING,in particular,regulations IV/7.2.2,7.3.2 and 14.1 of the Convention concerningradiocommunications for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System(GMDSS),whichrequire that ships be provided with survival craft two-way VHF radiotelephone apparatus andthat such apparatus shall confom to appropriate perfomance standards not inferior to thoseadopted by the Organization,RECOGNIZING the need to improve the perfommance standards,previously adopted byresolution MSC.149(77),for survival craft portable two-way VHF radiotelephone apparatus,HAVING CONSIDERED at its 105th session a proposal on the revision of the annex toresolution MSC.149(77)made by the Sub-Committee on Navigation,Communications andSearch and Rescue at its eighth session,ADOPTS the revised Perfomance standards for survival craft portable two-way VHFradiotelephone apparatus,set out in the annex to the present resolution;2RECOMMENDS Governments to ensure that survival craft portable two-way VHFradiotelephone apparatus:.1if installed on or after 1 January 2024,confomms to perfomance standardsnot inferior to those specified in the annex to the present resolution;I:MSC105MSC 105-20-Add.1.docx
